BRACKET SEMI-FINALS

(61) 1983 Georgia - 23
(196) 2007 Missouri - 24

After hitting 3 consecutive FG's to bring the Bulldogs back, Kevin Butler missed a 52yarder as time expired to give Chase Daniel and Tigers the ticket to the Bracket Final. Jeremy Maclin had 320 yards total offense.

(189) 2003 Miami, Ohio - 20
(68) 1980 Florida State - 27

Big Ben and his Trio of Wideouts(Ryne Robinson, Martin Nance, Michael Larkin) were simply outhustled in this one as the FSU D did just enough to move the Seminoles on.

BRACKET FINAL

(196) 2007 Missouri - 20
(68) 1980 Florida State - 31

In a game where the big names were lacking on the FSU sideline compared to other years, the coaching of Bobby Bowden led the Seminoles to land of 64, (his sixth team so far in the Top 64!)

As the two teams took the field you could tell that FSU was the more focused team. Tony Temple was quoted as saying on a Missouri TV outlet "FSU is a good team, but we have more weapons then they do and it will be tough for their defense to keep up, there will be alot of handshaking going on." Can you say all the ammo the Seminoles needed.

As the game began FSU WR Dennis McKinnon returned the opening kick for 92 yards to the Mizzu 2 yard line and jumped up and gave the crowd a 7 fingers down hand gesture(Maclin is #7), to put the Tigers on alert. They proceed to hand the ball to Sam Platt for the 2 yard score and with 30 seconds expired in the game FSU up 7-0. On the next drive K Bill Capence kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone and there was alot of shoving of Maclin on the touchback, to in which Maclin was flagged for pushing DB Bobby Butler and setting up the Tigers on their own 5 after the personal foul. After two Tony Temple attempts stuffed by Ron Simmons, Chase Daniel was pressured bgy Paul Piurowski into a rushed pass attempt into the arms of FSU DB Monk Bonasorte who returned it for a 9 yard interception return for a TD. FSU 14-0 with only 2 minutes gone by in the first quarter.

After the teams trade FG's, QB Rick Stockstill found a wide open Zeke Mowatt for a 22 yard score. Mowatt who was covered by Sean Weatherspoon on the play was pancaked out by OT Ken Lanier, and stayed on the field for several minutes but as the half came to a close it was 24-6 Seminoles.

Gary Pinkell was visably upset about his team's first half performance as he was coming off the field he stated the obvious.

The Tigers came out of the opening drive of the second half looking a little like they should by Maclin reversing for 25 yards, Danario Alexander catching 2 15 yard passes and Tony Temple scampering in for a 12 yard touchdown to cut the margin to 24-13, but Rick Stockstill did what he did in 1980 and just ground out the clock by handing off to Mike Whiting and Sam Platt to ice the victory for the Noles. They only passed the ball 4 times in the second half and completely took the will out of a very good Tiger team.

1980 Florida State (#68 overall seed) advances to the Bracket of Champions. The Seminoles will face the winner of Bracket 4 in the first round.

Mizzou can't expect to talk that kind of noise and beat a team like Florida State - in any decade. See ya, Tigers.
