Round 1
(seed) year school - score

(1) 1983 Auburn - 28
(2048) 1978 UNLV - 10
The number one seed in the tournament didn't wow anybody with a huge blowout, but Bo Jackson had a highlight run and the defense didn't allow UNLV to cross midfield until the third quarter.

(1024) 2007 Texas Tech - 35
(1025) 2006 Houston - 30
Kevin Kolb and Graham Harrell combined for 831 passing yards and 7 touchdowns in this shootout. But it was Harrell's touchdown pass to Danny Amendola with 1:35 to play that put Texas Tech's Air Raid offense in the second round.

(513) 1985 Nebraska - 32
(1536) 1999 Fresno State - 18
Fresno QB Billy Volek threw two touchdown passes over Nebraska's 5-2 defense, but the Huskers were able to pierce Pat Hill's defense for 389 rushing yards. IB Doug DuBose, FB Tom Rathman, and their sweet neck rolls led the way.

(512) 1987 Tennessee - 27
(1537) 1979 Arizona State - 19
RB Reggie Cobb and the Volunteers defeated the direction-less Sun Devils with relative ease, although QB Mark Malone was able to tack on a touchdown in the closing minutes to make the score look respectable.

(257) 1990 Clemson - 31
(1792) 2006 Minnesota - 13
The loaded Clemson defense (Levon Kirkland, Ed McDaniel, Chester McGlockton) was able to stifle Glen Mason's potent offense (RB Amir Pinnix, TE Matt Spaeth) and send a message to the rest of this bracket that Ken Hatfield's 1990 Clemson team won't be an easy matchup.

(768) 1987 Eastern Michigan - 24
(1281) 2006 Missouri - 27
Chase Daniel got off to a fast start, leading Missouri to a 21-7 halftime lead. The Tigers then held on for dear life in the second half to knock off RB Gary Patton and Eastern Michigan.

(769) 1981 Oklahoma - 25
(1280) 1992 Southern Miss - 14
The '81 Sooners running game tore through Southern Miss like a tornado. QB Darrell Shepard paced the attack, and backs Stanley Wilson and Buster Rhymes racked up 100 yards apiece.

(256) 1981 Georgia - 34
(1793) 1999 North Carolina State - 10
Herschel Walker proved that Bo Jackson isn't the only great running back in this bracket. Walker ran for 183 yards, and the Georgia defense, led by LB Nate Taylor, held the dangerous Jamie Barnette/Koren Robinson-led Wolfpack offense to just 10 points.

(129) 1983 Texas - 30
(1920) 2002 Central Florida - 14
Defense was the story of the day - Texas had it and Central Florida didn't. Defensive backs Jerry Gray and Mossy Cade locked down on Doug Gabriel and the UCF receivers. QB Ryan Schneider was held to just 164 passing yards.

(896) 2002 Wisconsin - 22
(1153) 1984 Georgia Tech - 24
Wisconsin's Jim Leonhard picked off John Dewberry's first pass of the game, and returned a punt for a touchdown, leading to a quick 14-0 lead. But coach Bill Curry grounded his Georgia Tech offense, allowing Robert Lavette to take over.

(641) 1978 Purdue - 26
(1408) 2000 Mississippi - 16
Another Romaro Miller/Deuce McAllister Ole Miss team bites the dust.

(384) 2007 Florida - 38
(1665) 1980 Syracuse - 17
Frank Maloney's offense had no hope of keeping up with Tim Tebow and the Gators. Percy Harvin took some of the heat off Tebow, piling up 163 total yards of offense against a Syracuse defense that looked like they've never seen this kind of speed before.

(385) 2003 Boise State - 39
(1664) 2001 Middle Tennessee - 22
Dwone Hicks ran for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to compete with Dan Hawkins' Boise State offense. Ryan Dinwiddie advances!

(640) 1993 Alabama - 21
(1409) 1988 Florida - 13
David Palmer did a little bit of everything for the Crimson Tide. He caught a touchdown pass, threw a touchdown pass, and returned a kick for another, accounting for all of Alabama's points. In the mean time, the Alabama defense did a numer on Emmitt Smith and Florida.

(897) 1991 Virginia - 27
(1152) 2003 California - 22
George Welsh's Virginia defense, led by bookend DEs Chris Slade and Mike Frederick, contained Jeff Tedford's potent Cal offense. RB Terry Kirby led a deliberate Cavalier offense to 27 points and the victory.

(128) 1981 Texas - 34
(1921) 1998 Louisiana Tech - 21
Gary Crowton turned WR Troy Edwards loose on the Texas defense. He piled up 14 receptions for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns off the arm of Tim Rattay, but the Bulldog defense couldn't hold up.
