Well, Brent, you can't seem to close the gap on me. Down by only one game in 7 on 7 Drills, you'd think a 6-1 week would at least pull you even. Not so fast my friend. My second perfect 7-0 week gives doubled my lead to two games. Here are the results:

Week Twelve Recap - 7 on 7 Drills

Thanks to the ACC, both of us here at Pikes Picks had a mediocre week in 7 on 7 Drills. It seems like every week the top of the ACC chokes against the bottom half of the conference. So even though we're more than half way through November now, 9 of the 12 teams in that conference still have a chance to go to the ACC Championship Game. Ridiculous!

7 on 7 Drills

In a week that saw us agree on only three of seven games, Brent was able to close my lead to just one game. My upset pick (Tennessee over Alabama) didn't work out so well, and my vengeance pick (Kansas over Texas Tech) was even worse. At least my Nittany Lions took care of Brent's Buckeyes and knocked them out of the national title race for good.

Both of us here at Pikes Picks rebounded nicely after our abysmal 2-5 showings last week. Brent picked up a game on me to cut my lead back down to a single game. With another strong slate of games on the schedule for this week, there's a chance for some shake ups in the standings.

Week Four Recap

This is why I leave the picks against the spread to Brent. My 5-7 record isn't going to impress anybody. In the mean time, Brent finished over .500 against the spread for the second consecutive week after a great start to the day. I'm guessing the "experts" got nuthin' on him. I took a slight step down picking games straight up, but I still have an 85% rate for the season.

Week Three Results

Week Three saw Brent get back in the saddle and have a good week picking games against the spread. Not only did he finish above 50% for the first time this season, three of his losses came at the hands of that pesky 1/2 point. I did pretty well picking games straight up, but I'm disappointed that my Mississippi State upset fell one point short. That offense is even worse than I thought. I came back down to earth with my 4,000 gold nickel locks of the week too. Here's the recap for our picks in week three.

J.Pike is losing ground on B.Pike after another 4-3 week. The upset pick of Ole Miss over Wake Forest fell through on a last second field goal by Sam Swank. WEEK ONE - 7 on 7

It's finally football time. To kick off the festivities, I'll introduce my picks for the first week of 7 on 7 drills. Brent and I will each pick the top seven games of the week and track our records. I'm not sure what the stakes are yet, but it will be a competition nonetheless.

Week One features more cupcake games than anybody should be willing to count. There are enough directionals and 1-AA competition to make even the most loyal fan yawn. Luckily there are a few schools willing to go out and schedule difficult games off the bat. The top two games this week each feature J&BP Top 25 teams squaring off in neutral sites. I'm taking the favorite in both matchups.

One of the week's most compelling games is in Ann Arbor where Rich Rodriguez makes his coaching debut as Michigan hosts one of the best teams not in a BCS league. I like the upset here because Utah is ready to go and Michigan still has a long way to go in learning Rodriguez's new schemes.

The other four games on the list includes Michigan State and Tennessee traveling out west to play games in California, and Fresno State and USC traveling cross country to play games on the east coast. Will all the travel have an effect? Probably, although I managed to pick three of the four road teams to win. I'll probably regret that. Here's the picks.

1. USC 33, Virginia 10
2. Fresno State 25, Rutgers 24
3. Michigan State 23, Cal 20
4. Tennessee 30, UCLA 16
5. Utah 24, Michigan 13
6. Clemson 23, Alabama 17
7. Missouri 31, Illinois 27
